Since this year we’ve already been camping (the medieval way) twice and we will go to another event, it became apparent, that we could use some more stuff for the encampment. So I’m gonna make a list of things, that we need or could make to have a reminder…
1. new tent – the canvas from our present tent is 15 years old and started to leak. This time it should be a bigger late medieval tent – but this will be a long term project – even if we build it ourselves it will take as some time to save the money for the materials . But I think I will start doing the research…
2. repair the tent – find out, where the canvas is leaking and patch the spots, if possible
3. Chairs – we definitly need two chairs for us. In the long run – sitting on benches does nothing good for my back. I have to contemplate which kind of chair would be the most practical. The chairs should be foldable or collapsible to fit into the car and of course period.
4. A table -until now we rarely needed one – we’ve often been guests of other groups/people, where everything was available. But in the future we’re planning to go by ourselves to different events more often, so we need one. This shouldn’t be a problem, there’s some wood in the basement we don’t need for anything else…
5. one or better two three new chests – one chest for kitchenstuff would be nice. At the Moment we have all our stuff in a wicker basket, but I think it’s better for ceramics and glas replicas to be tucked away in a chest, likewise spices, mortar and other small things. And Gaudefroy needs a chest for his late medieval garb (and for that matter, also one for his viking garments, at the moment he’s using my viking chest…)
